Why We Exist

Every year, tons of organic food waste—like potato peels—are discarded, while single-use plastics continue to pollute our planet. We exist to solve both problems at once. At TatoHugs, we believe waste is not the end of a product’s life, but the beginning of a new one. Our mission is to offer sustainable, affordable, and functional alternatives to plastic packaging, starting with one of the most overlooked resources in the food industry: potato peels.

According to a report by Statista, the global biodegradable packaging market is projected to exceed $120 billion by 2030, driven by increasing demand and anti-plastic regulations. The world produces a vast amount of single-use plastic packaging. A significant portion, potentially up to 50%, of all plastic produced each year is used for single-use purposes. In 2021, 139 million metric tons of single-use plastic waste were generated globally, with 141 million tonnes of plastic packaging produced yearly. Plastic takes 20-500 years to decompose.
